Other comment is so good I can't really add a ton to it other than a few little kibbles. Maybe not a concern right now, but that sort of thing tends to pop up out of the blue. Small ones fit neatly in a closet so you don't have to stare at it all the time and they also are handy for when you suddenly have visitors who do have kids. No, they're not that hard to get into if you have time and don't mind making a lot of noise but that's usually enough for thieves to walk past it (once they literally ignored the keys that were right there). You have to bolt it down so it actually prevents theft, but mine survived multiple break-ins and it's a great place to store your crap. Lastly, for the home I'm a big fan of a simple, cheap-ass, gun cabinet. Pricey, but also go on sale.ĭon't forget the first aid bag :). Personally I really like this and this which don't look so much like "I have guns!" and have rigid compartments for storage as well as targets etc. Note that there are some very nice and very expensive options here that, among other things, float so you don't lose your gun if it hits deeper water.
If you're considering flying make sure you buy something that's TSA approved. You'll also want to consider a hard case so you can travel/lock it. Make sure you get the right length for what you're putting into it and if you want to take ammo or accessories that it's got spaces for that stuff. You can also just google or otherwise search range bag or rifle bag or shotgun bag and you'll see tons and tons of options. Overpriced, but nice and they go on sale regularly. I've got a couple Rifle Burritos and they're actually very nice material and carry well etc.make for a good shooting mat when unrolled and are fire resistant so won't melt when you lay hot barrels on them. There are lots of other options though including ye olde "gym bag" special.įor rifles and shotguns it's a much bigger pain to make decisions about. can shove a pair of pistols in, some ammo, ears and eyes, etc. I'm actually really happy with the Walmart Osage River range bag. There are hordes of range bags out there and I find all of them to be too small, but they let me divide things up as I go as well. You'll want a separate one for the shotgun and pistol but you can readily fit the pistol into the shotgun bag if it's got dividers or even just put it in a "rug" and toss it in on top. I tend to think that range bags are overpriced as hell.but they really are traditionally heavier fabric and have useful pockets.
